The
Student Representative Council
is
an elected group of children from Year 1-6. Two children from
each grade, as well as School Captains, meet to discuss issues
related to the welfare of the students at our school. They are
an active body who assume differing responsibilities in the
school. Issues are prioritised in a democratic way.
The SRC is also responsible for
choosing and conducting a special fundraising activity during
the year to support a charity of their choice. Over the
years we have supported a range of charities including red nose
day, bandana day and Stewart House fundraising.
Mr Bailey coordinates the SRC. |

HOMEWORK |
|
Homework is
given as a means of reinforcing, enhancing or extending the work
completed at school. Parents are encouraged to help and support
their children. Homework is normally given through the week in
primary classes (3-6), generally with a reasonable amount of
time to allow for extra-curricular activities. K-2 classes will
have less homework but you can assist by reading to your child
every day,
positively discussing the day’s happenings and encouraging the
child to be organised and prepared for the next day. |

FAMILY
STATUS AND ACCESS |
|
We
are always sensitive to the children’s personal situation. To
help us better understand and support the children we need to be
made aware of any family arrangements that might impact upon a
child’s welfare. This includes separation, divorce and
custody.
We
would appreciate you providing us with any information relating
to this area. Details of any orders made by the Family Law Court
must
also be given to the school
Principal
to ensure the continued welfare of children. Such information
is confidential and is only released on a “need to know” basis. |

SUPERVISION |
|
Teachers arrive at school by 8.30am and direct supervision
begins at 8.30am. Children should not enter the school until
8.30am.
From this time, at
recess and lunch, teachers are in the playground to directly
supervise children. In the event of accident or injury, the
assistance of the teacher on duty should be sought immediately.
Once children arrive at school they must remain within the
boundaries of the school until the dismissal at the end of the
school day unless:
-
A
parent gives written authority to leave and the note is seen
by the teacher or principal, or
-
A
teacher supervises while pupils leave for a specific purpose
such as retrieving some play equipment, collecting lunches,
etc.
