REPORTING TO PARENTS

Early in Term 1 each year, a meeting will be held between class teachers and parents where the teacher will outline plans, strategies, excursions and other activities that will be organised for the year.  This is a  general information giving time, not one where individual children are discussed.

During Term 2, formal parent/teacher interviews will be conducted with a discussion focusing on the individual progress of the child.

In Terms 2 and 4, a formal written report outlining student achievement outcomes is prepared  and sent to parents.

Should you have any concerns about your child’s progress, contact the teacher immediately.  Please do not wait until interview time.

P&C ASSOCIATION

Stanwell Park Public school has been most fortunate in having the support of active parent organisations providing both financial support for equipment and resources and personnel support for activities in classrooms, on excursions and other school activities.  All parents are invited to be involved.

The evening P & C meetings provide an opportunity to meet other parents, hear reports of school activities, to be involved in planning future activities and to hear speakers on educational issues.

This group also provides assistance to our school by fundraising, provision of resource materials, teacher support for reading and class activities.  All of these activities enhance the education your child receives.  Meetings are held on various nights of Week 3 and Week 8 of each term commencing at 7.30pm in the school Stafroom.  Please see the calendar page for the next scheduled meeting.

EXCURSIONS / PERFORMANCES

Classes participate in the following ways:

  • Visits to the school by performing artists

  • Visits to other schools or venues to see performing artists

  • Visits to places for educational reinforcement

  • Involvement  in sporting activities and cultural events

  • Participation and involvement in organised camps

  • These visits are an integral part of a school or classroom program.

PERMISSION NOTES for these activities are sent home for parental approval.  Money and the signed Permission Note are sent directly to the office.

Permission notes and money need to be returned in the envelope provided, sealed with the child’s name, class and event on it before or by the date indicated on the note.  Please ensure that small coin, e.g. $2.00, cannot “escape” from the envelope. Regrettably as the charges for transport and excursion costs are predetermined and payment in advance is often required, refunds for late withdrawal will not be possible.  On rare occasions, partial refunds would only be considered where possible and when special circumstances exist.  Should you have any difficulty funding an amount of money within the time, please contact the Principal.

AUTHORITY

A specific permission note for each train, bus or car excursion is required.  If children do not return the form by the due date, then they may not be able to participate in the activity. In the event of a medical emergency we will endeavour, in the first instance, to contact the parents but will also seek medical, dental or ambulance support at the same time.  This has been authorised in the enrolment form.
