SCHOOL HISTORY
Stanwell Park Public School opened for the children of workers
when the railway was being constructed in 1917. At first the
school rented the Anglican church for 15 shillings a week. There
were 42 boys and 66 girls in the first school with their
teacher, John Surtees.
In 1928 the present school opened on 1 acre. The additions were
built in 1976. The school has grown steadily since then and
demountable classrooms were added to cater for extra classes and
the library.
In 2004 the new brick building with 4 homebase classrooms was
completed and the demountable classrooms were removed. At
present, Stanwell Park Public School caters for 178 students in
7 classes. |
