The Stanwell Park Public School library is a
place of constant enrichment for students of all ages. It
is an extremely well stocked library with over $4000 spent on
new books and resources every year. Library lessons and
book borrowing are part of weekly lessons for each class.
Our teacher/librarian is Mr Bailey. He encourages all
students to develop a love of reading. He also encourages
all students to bring a library bag and to borrow books
each week.
As a reward a "Good Borrowers party" is held
each term for K-1 and 2-6, where every student that has borrowed
a certain number of times can attend. These parties are a
lot of fun with party food and competitions. A draw is held at
each party and the winners may choose from a selection of books
as a prize.

To encourage the senior readers and to cater
for their distinctive interests, a mini Book Fair is held
towards the end of Term 2. The students from Years 5 and 6
assist in choosing the books for purchase by the library,
ensuring students' interests are considered when purchasing new
stock.
The library is open during the second half of
lunch from Monday to Thursday. Students may use this time
in the library to read, play games, draw or use the library
computers. During this time the Library Monitors are
available to assist the students by handing out paper, booking
computers for use, sharpening pencils and entering details of
books borrowed and returned on the computer system.
The Library Monitors also plan competitions to
encourage use of the library by students. Competitions
have included a writing competition, book cover design and many
others. |
