Congratulations to all members of
our outstanding training and performing bands who represented
Stanwell Park by performing magnificently at the Engadine
Bandfest at Kogarah. The Training Band performed brilliantly
and impressed all in the audience with their chosen pieces
‘Hard Rock Blues’, ‘Bring On The
Band’, ‘Jellybeans’, and ‘Geronimo’. It is very hard to
believe that these students have only been learning their
instruments for a little more than a term. Their individual
skill is evident and is a credit to their dedication to
practice. What is also clear is their excellent combination as
a member of a band that has developed through their weekly band
sessions at school. Each member of the band clearly enjoyed
their performance and this effort was rewarded with the band
being awarded a GOLD award
from the judge for their performance – well done!
The Performing Band also performed
in an outstanding manner, entertaining the audience with a
polished band performance. The Performing Band played
‘James Bond’ (my favourite), ‘Tango
Tango’ and ‘Swahili Folk Hymn’. The individual band
members combined perfectly to produce an excellent performance
which was also received well by the judge who awarded the
Performance Band a SILVER
award. An outstanding effort and certainly well-deserved.

Both bands were a credit to our
school, their parents and the students themselves in the way
they conducted themselves on the day. Their behaviour was
excellent and their musical talents shone. They looked
magnificent in their band uniforms and certainly enjoyed the
experience of performing in public.
Many thanks to the large number of
parents who travelled to support the students on the day. It
was fantastic to hear them play so professionally, a real credit
to themselves and Mrs Williams – well done Band Members!
